Lindsay rice takes 5th place in both races with the Canadian Touring Car Championship

We have just past the eventful weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for Lindsay Rice and her team Rice Racing. The young driver took home two fifth places in GT Sport over the Chevrolet Silverado 250 weekend at the famous Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in competition with the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) field.

Rice piloted her #18 Rice Racing Porsche 911 in two races with CTCC for her fifth race weekend of 2017. After having brought home three podiums this season in her 911, Rice had her sights on a successful weekend with the CTCC field. "My team and I had our focus on getting the car to a place where we could put down our fastest times. With their help, and my focus, this is exactly what we did. We ran our fastest time in my 911! We were ecstatic."

This was Rice's second weekend competing with the CTCC field his season. Unfortunately, in the competition, Rice has a disadvantage in her class due to her car classification. The #18 Porsche fits into a category that is open, allowing for any modifications to the race cars in this class. The #18 Porsche 911 does not have any modifications in terms of engine improvements, so Rice ran with 325 horsepower against cars with 400+ horsepower. "Really, for us it was about the experience. We knew our car was much slower than the rest of the field. We wanted to go out here on our home track and have some good competition and push ourselves. Taking home two 5th places was a bonus!" says Lindsay Rice. This race weekend closed out a successful season for Rice Racing. Lindsay Rice brought home her first ever first place at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with the Canadian Automobile Sports Club series in May. This weekend was followed by a race weekend at Watkin's Glen in New York where she ran with the Porsche Club Racing series. Rice also made the trip out to the Grand Prix Trois-Rivieres, where she had issues with her car during Rounds 9-11 in the Canadian Touring Car Championship.

"The issues we had in Three Rivers were fixed by my team the following week. We went testing and found out we would be OK for competition. The car was running perfectly for my races at CTMP. Hats off to my team for being the best problem solvers I know!!" After a season full of dedication and a busy travel schedule, Lindsay and the Rice Racing team say goodnight to the #18 Porsche for now. Into the off season Rice will focus on her training and preparing for the next season.
